”The place of true healing is a fierce place. It’s a giant place. It’s a place of monstrous beauty and endless dark and glimmering light. And you have to work really, really, really hard to get there, but you can do it.”
– Cheryl Strayed

About Dr Malak Saddy:
Malak Saddy RD, LD, CEDRD-S
The world welcomed me in Toronto, Canada to American Lebanese parents. By the age of 6 I had lived in 4 different countries before settling in Michigan. Growing up in an American Lebanese household, food was always plentiful and always homemade. The comforting aromas of my mother’s cooking would fill up the house and signify that my long day at school had finally ended. I appreciate how food can bring so many people together and how it has strong roots in all cultures and traditions. Becoming a dietitian allowed me to incorporate the two things I love the most food and communicating with people.
In 2008 I graduated from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) in East Lansing, MI with a Bachelors of Science. I completed my dietetic internship at Keene State College in Keene, NH and began my dietetic career at a non-profit adolescent mental health facility.
I’ve presented in over 20 different universities, national eating disorder conferences, and chapters. My various topics include Eating Disorder Basics, The Incorporation of Intuitive Eating, and Cultivating Cultural Curiosity in the Treatment of Eating Disorders.
My other passions outside of my work include reading, cooking, going to the farmers market, trying new foods, and spontaneous adventures exploring new places. Travel and culture have always been an integral part of my life and have helped shape the compassionate person I am today.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:
I have a small obsession with dinosaurs, they are incredibly strong creatures, yet they were very vulnerable (see how many you can find in my office).
My first job was in high school as a score keeper for our soccer team.
I studied abroad in Tanzania and was part of a team that taught local villagers how to grow and incorporate soy beans in their daily diets. We also educated pregnant women on proper nutrition at local hospitals.
I have 25 first cousins, and can strongly relate to the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”
I love entertaining guests with good food, board games, and lots of laughs.
