Instead of targeting darts of love at your heart, I aimed arrows of hate.
Forgive me mom.
Dear Readers,
Yesterday was a Mothers Day in USA. I received a message from a sad mother in CA this morning. She would like to share her daughter’s mother day message to all of you.
Dear Maha!
Today I received a best message of my life. It filled my heart with love and joy. Please keep my daughter in your prayers. Inshallah she’ll be home soon.
My daughter used to be so loving and so full of brightness, but sadly her illness has turned her into a very disturbing angry young girl. All I want for her is to defeat this negative voice inside her head that tells her she’s unlovable and ugly.
Mothers Day Message by 14 year old Warrior Princess
Dear Mom,
Next week is Mothers Day. Happy Mothers Day to You. You are the best Mom in the whole wide world. Thank you for looking after me. I am sorry I yelled at you. I am sorry I threw food away. I am sorry I made you cry again and again. I never thought anyone could make you cry but I did and again and again. I want to tell you, it’s not your fault Dad left us and has a new family now. I am sorry for blaming you for everything for calling you names. I am sorry for pinching Ali and I am sorry for yelling at grandma and telling her to go back to her country. You work so hard to pay the rent and to buy me things. Some nights you stay up knitting and sewing, so we can have extra money. Grandma works very hard to look after us, she’s old and sometimes very sad but so kind. It’s hard being here. I am sorry for hating you for sending me here. I am sorry for not speaking to you for 90 days. Now I know you just want me to get better. Some nights I wait for you to come and tuck me in bed, kiss my forehead and tell me I am the most beautiful girl in the world. I miss your smile. I miss the smell of your hands. I miss your face and I miss your hugs, they are pure magic. You are my heart. I will be home soon. I can’t wait for us to go shopping and have oreo milkshake.
Thank you for being my Mom.

How Should We Treat Our Mothers?
A man came to the Prophet and said: O Messenger of Allah! Who from amongst mankind warrants the best companionship from me? He replied: “Your mother.” The man asked: Then who? So he replied: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So the Prophet replied again: “Your mother.” The man then asked: Then who? So he replied: “Then your father.”
(Sahîh Bukhârî 5971 and Sahîh Muslim 7/2)
This hadith confirms that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave precedence to kind treatment of one’s mother over kind treatment of one’s father
(Al-Hashimi, The Ideal Muslimah, IIPH 2005, p. 165)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also said in a famous narration:
‘Paradise lies at the feet of your mother’
A video below is a small tribute to all the mothers in the world, no doubt Paradise Lies at The Feet of The Mother. Thank you for supporting us in our war against eating disorders. In a day and age when happiness in life is measured in likes, retweets and shares, there is nothing more precious than the support of a mother who really cares.
We are truly sorry for all the hurts we’ve caused you. Again and again you’ve come to heal us with a balm, but we retaliated and lost our calm. Sorry for our harsh words. Sorry for choosing the demon inside our head over your love. The cycle of the perfect apology starts with a Mistake followed by Regret, followed by a Sorry, followed by Forgiveness. We do the first three, please complete the last. We are sorry and you are the most sacred noble gift of God to us.
