Many researches show that a lot of bulimics didn’t start with
depression, low self-esteem, and bad self-image. These negative
mind stages have developed together with bulimia.
Even though causes of bulimia are very complex mixture of
many factors and vary from person to person, statistically,
THE NUMBER 1 BULIMIA CAUSE IS DIETING!
Poor eating pattern may start even when someone wants to
improve their body only a little bit and starts dieting.
Because “healthy foods” don’t taste as good as pizza,
chocolate or hamburgers, one may eventually start binging
compulsively.

Find Out The Real Causes Of Bulimia!
Source: Kate Walsh
You are desperate to STOP Bulimia; you are looking for the solutions, recovery methods, but not for psychoanalysis, right?
Well, let me tell you , there is no “magic cure” that will help you if you are not willing to understand yourself… It doesn’t mean you need to go to a psychologist right away…(Psychologist might be helpful, but only if you know a good one…)
What you need, is to FIND THE WAY TO HEAR YOUR REAL VOICE.
Your aim is to finally meet THE TRUE YOU and to speak to YOU
(again or for the first time). To do so, it’s extremely helpful if you start analyzing the forces that pushed you towards bulimia.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME BULIMIC?
You might say that you have never decided… Well, that is not true. You did. At one point of your life; you did… You didn’t expect such dreadful consequences though!
There are dozens of factors that when mixed together mightcause bulimia, such as:
* Personality traits (e.g. ambitions, impatient, anxious,
perfectionist, vulnerable),
* Poor self-image, low self-esteem and self-confidence,
depression,
* Fear of being rejected by others,
* Trauma, death of somebody close,
* Stress from school or work,
* Family problems, family background, demanding parents
* Inability to successfully solve problems, deal with
everyday issues, manage feelings and cope with negative
influences and suggestions
Do you know which factors were involved in
your case?
Of course there might be others ( not listed above).
Please spend time to think about it. Try to remind yourself
from the time before you developed your bulimia.

After binge the whole process of losing self-worth begin to
happen. One feels, worthless, embarrassed and ashamed about
binging, so can start purging (to get rid of the food that
was consumed).
At the beginning it all seems to be the perfect solution.
But in fact this is the beginning of programing the
subconscious mind to become bulimic!
Can you see now how this may happen, even for individuals
who didn’t have emotional problems before?
Many people with bulimia only wanted to lose some weight;
unfortunately, they ended up addicted to binging/ purging…
unhappy, alone and ashamed…
I don’t say that dieting was the number 1 factor in your
case. I only want to point out that sometimes you don’t need to
look for “other reasons” of your bulimia. Sometimes dieting
is the main one.
If you started binging/ purging as a result of more complex factors and events in your life, you probably need more time for analyzing yourself… But, you shouldn’t skip this step of your recovery! It’s important.
TO HELP YOU OUT, I TELL YOU NOW WHERE THE MAIN PITFALL IS:
The voice in your head that repeats “you are fat, you are bulimic, binge, purge, lose weight, you are pathetic…and so on…” IS NOT “THE YOU” you are looking for!!!
This voice is your subconscious. Your subconscious only
wants to do “its job” the best it can (remember from the
last lesson? )
Your subconscious’ job is TO BE BULIMIC – You “gave this job
to it” at the time when you have been repeating binging/purging
so many times that they became automatic)
So, as THE FIRST STEP, just remind yourself about this every
time you hear “this voice” in your head.
Don’t judge yourself. Accept it. It’s normal. Just observe how it works.
Stay positive and patient 🙂
