The most effective and enduring treatment for an eating disorder involves psychotherapy or counseling coupled with nutritional counseling and stabilization. This collaboration involves careful planning and a team approach. Presenters will discuss specific interventions from a therapeutic and dietetic perspective to provide clients with a holistic treatment plan which addresses their fears around food and the underlying issues that exacerbate these fears. We will also discuss recovery maintenance strategies that can be incorporated by both the dietitian and therapist to help your client meet and maintain milestones in there recovery from their eating disorder.
Participants will be able to:
1. Define the challenge of incorporating food related interventions in the treatment of eating disorders.
2. Describe the integration of a multidisciplinary team in the implementation of food-related interventions in eating disorders.
3. Implements at least 5 food – related interventions in the treatment of eating disorders.
Amber Lamberth, LCSW
Amber received her Master’s Degree with Honors from the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a member of the NASW. Amber previously worked at a residential and partial hospitalization eating disorder treatment facility in the State of Alabama. In addition to her specialization in eating disorders, Amber has additional training in symptoms of self-harm, suicidality, trauma, and sexual addiction. She has had specialized training and experience in DBT, ACT, and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. She is a candidate for the Certified Sex Addiction Therapist designation and has a particular interest in issues of intimacy and sexual addiction in eating disorders. Amber is committed to helping clients rediscover their sense of self and reconnect with their values and purpose to drive them towards recovery.
Amy Claire Grisham, MS, RDN, LD
Amy Claire received a Master of Science degree in Nutrition Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also completed her dietetic internship. During her graduate studies, Amy Claire was a selected nutrition trainee for UAB’s Department of Pediatrics Leadership Education and Adolescent (L.E.A.H) and Nutrition grants, where she worked as dietitian within an interdisciplinary team in outpatient adolescent eating disorder and nutrition clinics. She also graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Dietetics from Auburn University. As a registered and licensed dietitian (RDN, LDN), she is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Birmingham District Dietetic Association, and Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) groups. Amy Claire seeks to empower clients to make a full and lasting recovery through an inclusive, holistic approach to food, health, and wellness.

Allison is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker, and has treated eating disorders in various settings, including residential and partial hospitalization. Most recently, she worked as a clinical therapist at Pine Grove Women’s Center, a residential program for eating disorders and addiction. Allison graduated summa cum laude with her Masters in Social Work from the University of Alabama. Allison has had additional training in relapse prevention and issues regarding body image. She is in the process of completing her Level I EMDR training. Allison’s other professional interests include working with clients with trauma histories, personality disorders, and LGBTQI issues.
