Friday Healing: The Seasons of The Soul -Fatima Yousef Al-Ibrahim

But what about our soul? I realised that the soul has its own seasons too, and I like to name the seasons by the name of the four weather seasons. Maybe you are wondering why? Simply because I see myself as a human in touch with nature and with the things around me even consciously or unconsciously. There is an invisible bond that can only be explained by feelings, emotions, and deep relationships.

The seasons of the soul do not come at the same time as the seasons of weather. It might be spring outside but your soul is experiencing the autumn, or it might be summer time and your soul is living a harsh winter inside.

Dear Readers,

Please find below an inspirational healing post by one of our long time friend Fatima Yousef Al-Ibrahim . We hope you’ll find it as inspiring as we did.

The earth has four seasons: autumn, winter, spring and summer. Also, women have their own biological cycle which is similar to the seasons. Even the moon every month goes through his own season, starting from being a new moon towards a full moon and then going back to the starting point again. The child in his mother’s womb is living in different seasons during the nine months of pregnancy until his day officially comes to be introduced to the outside world.

So, let me introduce the four seasons of the soul in detail.

1. Autumn:

In this season, your soul starts to become weak after a long standing. It is like the plant goes dormant. You might feel that your soul is tired, as there is a button inside you telling you to slow down and take a break. You might feel that you do not want to start a new adventure but rather decide to pay attention to your soul as it is in the transitional period from being energetic to preparing yourself for the upcoming winter. Here, your soul moves from being green to more autumnally colours: yellow, orange, red, purple and brown. Despite people saying that these spectrums of colours do not represent life, I, however, personally think that the way you look at things, you are the one who gives life and meaning to it.

2. Winter:

This is the season where your soul is asking you to give it a hug, to warm it, to be at as ease as you can with it. Here, you might ask your soul questions, but it is not the time to answer. Winter is the time of reconnection between yourself and your soul. When you hug your loved one’s like parents, friends, or your child you will feel a spark of warmth and this warmth is what your soul is asking you to give it in this freezing season. The warmth and heat melt the ice which will become a water to quench your soul’s thirst. Winter is where there are clouds sounding your soul, but those clouds are raining as they want to wash your soul, preparing it to be reborn again. White is the king of colours in this season and you can feel it by seeing how pure your soul is despite all other things your brain is telling you.

3. Spring:

Your soul in spring is similar to the smell of the earth after the rain otherwise known as petrichor. It is like opining your window in the early morning to feel the fresh breeze. Could you feel this now? Just close your eyes and imagine and feel the cold fresh breeze touching your face. Did you feel that? It is the exact feeling that your soul feels when spring comes. Your soul in this season is like a butterfly preparing to break from its cocoon and fly. Here is where your soul will start asking you to do lighter things, to feel that you are returning to life again, to feel that you are starting to blossom after your winter hibernation. The beauty being born inside you, you soul like a garden full of spring colours: the fresh green, the soft pink, the warm yellow, and the rich purple. The shiny smile of your soul is the symbol of this season.

4. Summer:

When you hear the word “summer” what comes to your mind? Energy, activities, the beach, summer holidays, hanging out more with your friends, what else? And now think about summer in terms of your soul. In this season, your soul is full of energy to start a new adventure, or to resume an uncompleted journey. It is the time where your soul even starts giving you answers to the unanswered questions that were raised during winter. It is the time when you feel that your soul is bouncing up and down. Imagine your soul as a green meadow full of sunflowers, with a clear blue sky, shining as the sun spreads its golden light everywhere. Here your soul is like a butterfly coming out of its Spring cocoon and flying from one field to another, full of joy.

The seasons of the soul could happen to you multiple times during the year. What I’m saying is that you might experience winter twice, spring three times or you may not even have an autumn. You can be in each season but not in order, depending on your soul. Your soul can jump from spring to autumn or from summer to winter, every soul is unique and has its own rhythm. You are the only one who knows it the best.

And now, tell me, which season is your soul in?
