Dear Readers,

Please find below a guest post from a writer in Pakistan on some of the problems of eating disorders in Pakistani society, here the focus is on media and its portrayal of females in our society. Thank you so much for this great article and we are aware of how Pakistani media in recent times has become obsessed with portrayal of females in mass media as a certain symbol. the most damaging part are the ads where women are there to just fill in the background of the scenery. They don’t tend to be the protagonists, unless it’s for cleaning products. A man stands for humanity, but ads only show women if it’s something specifically to do with their gender, like beauty. We hope you’ll like the article below.

They influence people around them and their audiences very strongly. Disordered food refers to problematic eating patterns that are less frequent or less serious than identified food disorder.

The distinction between irregular eating and periodic eating pattern disturbance is the intensity and consistency behind eating behaviour. Evidence has shown that disordered eating or a common dietary disorder is far more severe and prevalent than real eating disorders. A recent study shows that food allergies in South Asian and Islamic countries have risen alarmingly. In this article, disordered eating behaviours of Asian people, particularly Pakistan, and the entertainment industry in Pakistan would be highlighted.

Media Involvement

Eating habits are changing dramatically all over the world, and the quickest means of communication is a quick cultural transition. Shockingly, in college years these refurbishments are risky. The proof is that disordered eating is the most common chronic disease in adolescents after obesity and asthma.

In the latter half of the 20th century, dietary disorders tend to be more common among young women relative to other age groups. Among Asian cultures, eating disorders are more frequent than in different cultures as well, which means which cultural factors, in particular, can contribute to anorexia and bulimia due to the pressure on young girls. The impacts of societal standards and expectations on the appearance and attractiveness of eating disorder literature have been critical. The society has always implied the beauty lies between being slim and smart.

Conclusion

However, physicians, nurses or staff in mental health have been identified in very few cases because people are highly hesitant to admit disordered food. Alternatively, obesity has been based to a certain degree, and obese people receive certain medical interventions and related assistance. Over the last 10 years, there has been a massive rise in awareness and knowledge of eating disorders, but Pakistan has yet to ignore the definition of an eating disorder. One researcher addressed thinness as a female inner conflict and highlighted the role of nutritionists and nutritionists to supply information on a healthy diet and to suggest specific food plans according to needs. The study showed that most cases of complaints of nausea, pain, indigestion and acidity, etc., were recorded by gastroenterologists in Pakistan. In other cases, tooth losses or calcium deficiency in the teeth due to the binge and the treatment have been found shockingly by dentists. It is difficult to determine if a disordered diet has become an eating disorder.
