Dear Readers,

Please find below one of the most excellent Webinar Series from Castlewood Treatment Centre. For family and friends of person suffering from Eating Disorder, addressing the illness is one of the most difficult aspects of helping the sufferer seek treatment. Family members frequently do not know how to bring up the issue of ED and treatment, and opt to ignore the problem for fear of pushing their loved one away during a confrontation or intervention.

These are legitimate concerns, and while families should understand that approaching their loved one should be a gentle and supportive process, they also need to understand that most patients seek ED treatment because of positive family involvement and intervention. I encourage you to sign up for this Webinar. It will equip you with knowledge and skills to help your loved ones during their journey to recovery and healing.

During this Webinar, I will go through the different stages of the loved one’s role in Recovery, i.e. prior to treatment, leading up to treatment, while in treatment, and after treatment. We developed this series because one of the big concerns that come up during family weeks from our families is the question of where to find support when they are at home and their loved one is in treatment. I have parents reach out to me asking if I can work with them because they are struggling. We have found that the families feel connected during the family weeks, but when they get home they feel a sense of hopelessness. So, I decided to start this Webinar Series to give all families needing support during their recovery journey. We believe they go through a recovery journey as well as they move away from the identity of being a loved one of someone with an eating disorder and begin to focus on their own healing process. This Webinar series will cover many aspects of the process of recovery for families and loved ones needing support and education.
